Winnowing Basket:
An Azure Dragon Constellation
Key Star: Gamma Sgr (Gamma Sagitarii)
The Winnowing Basket has four stars. Chinese Astrologers called it Chi, a basket of rice bran. This wide-mouthed basket became the symbol of a large mouth and tongue; the spreading of evil gossip and slander; malicious rumours, and by extension, adultary and harlotry.
In early Arabia, the Winnowing Basket, was called Al Na'am. A Portent would be:
Favorable for harvest, gain, buildings, and travelers, but causes divorce. With Moon here take medicine, navigate and put on new clothes.*
In ancient India, Astrolgoers called the winnowing basket Purva Ashadha. An example of their Portent is:
A severe asterism belonging to the Brahmin caste and favorable for acts of disgrace, destruction, deceit, imprisonment, beating, burning and poison when containing the Moon. Those born on the lunar day will be truthful, cleanly, wealthy, fond of fruit and flowers and sea voyages. With Moon here at birth native will be conceited, proud, constant in friendship and will have an agreeable life. Rules thatched houses and the back.
